Barcelona’s Casa Batlló, a masterpiece of Antoni Gaudí, continues its tradition of fusing art, architecture, and technology with its highly anticipated annual façade mapping event. On February 1 and 2, 2025, Italian multimedia artist Quayola will unveil “Arborescent,” a monumental projection mapping that promises to captivate audiences with an innovative exploration of nature and computational artistry.
“Arborescent”: A Digital Ode to Nature
Quayola’s “Arborescent” will transform Casa Batlló’s iconic façade into a living canvas, illustrating the growth systems of various tree species. Using advanced algorithms and a vibrant, painterly aesthetic, the mapping will reflect Gaudí’s deep-rooted inspiration from nature while reimagining it through a modern, digital lens. Accompanied by an original soundtrack composed by Quayola, the mapping will guide viewers through a mesmerizing interplay between life, architecture, and art.
Quayola describes the project as deeply meaningful, stating, “Immersing myself in Gaudí’s work has reiterated to me the boundless power of nature as an endless source of artistic inspiration.”
A Legacy of Spectacle
Since its inception four years ago, Casa Batlló’s façade mapping event has grown into one of the world’s most renowned audiovisual experiences, drawing tens of thousands of visitors annually. Previous mappings by celebrated artists Refik Anadol (2022–2023) and Sofia Crespo (2024) have set the stage for Quayola’s unique contribution. This initiative forms part of Casa Batlló’s The Heritage of Tomorrow artistic program, which aims to reinterpret Gaudí’s legacy through contemporary art and technology.

For the 2025 edition, Casa Batlló partners again with Integrated Systems Europe (ISE), the world’s largest audiovisual systems fair. ISE’s sponsorship underscores a shared commitment to integrating technology with culture.
