The 2024 Shanghai International Light Festival has once again dazzled visitors with its breathtaking projection mapping displays. Utilizing more than 200 Barco projectors, the festival transformed 13 iconic landmarks into stunning visual masterpieces. From an 80,000-tonne industrial silo to a water curtain at the Xuhui West Bund Dockyard, each installation showcased the seamless blend of technology and art.
Precision and Innovation
The festival’s installations required precision projection to avoid image distortion, especially on the intricate exteriors of historical buildings. Despite challenges such as humidity, rain, and temperature fluctuations, the projectors delivered outstanding results. Advanced imaging features and high brightness minimized interference from ambient light, ensuring a captivating experience for all visitors.
A Celebration of Heritage
One of the highlights was the celebration of Shanghai’s educational heritage at Guangming Middle School, where a ‘light and shadow poem’ was projected using 12 UDX-4K40 projectors. This installation, along with others, demonstrated the festival’s commitment to honoring the city’s rich history while embracing cutting-edge technology.

Reliability in Extreme Conditions
The projectors’ modular design and professional-grade protective enclosures ensured high levels of waterproofing and dustproofing, crucial for the festival’s success. Temperature monitoring and remote support capabilities further enhanced the reliability of the equipment, allowing for seamless operation in extreme conditions.
A Visual Spectacle
The 2024 Shanghai International Light Festival has set a new standard for projection mapping, combining artistic creativity with technological innovation. Visitors were treated to a visual spectacle that highlighted the beauty and versatility of Shanghai’s landmarks, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended.
